How do I get to Venezuela and to Isla Margarita?
Short answer
Commercial flights to Venezuela are limited. International flights land at Maiquetía (Caracas), which resumed limited operations on 1 September 2026, and at Valencia, Barquisimeto, Barcelona and Maracaibo. Isla Margarita has its own airport at Porlamar, served from Panama by Copa, and a ferry from Puerto La Cruz. Confirm each route with the airline before booking.

Arrival airports
GOV.UK says the availability of commercial flights to and from Venezuela is limited. Maiquetía Simón Bolívar International Airport, which serves Caracas, resumed commercial flight operations on 1 September with limited capacity, after the earthquakes of 24 June 2026. International flights are also operating from Valencia (Arturo Michelena), Barquisimeto (Jacinto Lara), Barcelona (General José Antonio Anzoátegui) and Maracaibo (La Chinita). Venezuela's tourism ministry said on 9 September 2026 that Maiquetía was back to 49 % of its pre-earthquake domestic routes, with 8 domestic airlines, and 46 % of its international operations, with 11 airlines.
International routes
Routes are being restored airline by airline, so we do not publish a timetable. On 12 October 2026: Copa Airlines sells a Panama City (PTY) to Porlamar (PMV) route on its website; Avianca announced the return of its daily Bogotá–Caracas flight from 1 September 2026, alongside its routes to Maracaibo and Valencia; Air Europa announced the resumption of its Caracas flights from the same date. Check the airline's own site for dates and frequencies before you buy.
